Ben’s international portfolio of designs includes an eclectic range of projects from contemporary circus through to concerts, exhibitions, opera, dance and of course musical theatre. He has designed shows for tents, studios, ships, proscenium arches, thrust stages, immersive, arena and outdoor amphitheatres and 2500-year-old ruins.
His recent designs include Sound of MusicandMamma Mia!in Cyprus, HAIR 50th Anniversary UK Tour, the Middle East and Australia tours ofThe Illusionists-Direct from Broadway, Quincy Jones-A Life in Song at the O2 Arena andMurphy’s Celtic Legacy-France and US Tour.
In the UK he has designed set and lighting for national tours including20th Century Boy, Noise Ensemble, The Operababes, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Live, RENT 20th anniversary and the Magnificent Musical alongside special events including George Dalaras at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, DNA@60 at Hammersmith Apollo,West End Heroes at the Dominion, Twitter Star Live at the Lyric and Children of Eden at the Prince of Wales Theatre. He was nominated for the Off West End awards for his lighting designs forCHESSandSteel Pier at the Union Theatre and designed the UK premieres ofLittle Women and The Toy BoyDiariesat The Hope Mill Theatre.
Other musical theatre designs include The Wizard of Oz, Cats, Oliver!, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, Evita, Grease and Fame for the Larnaca International Festival.EVITA and CHICAGO for new outdoor stagings in Lebanon, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and the Wizard of Ozin Dubai and Saturday Night FeverandJosephin the Channel Islands. International projects include Cirque Du Soleil’sZEDin Tokyo-for which he delivered the original lighting and video programming and original video content.
Other productions include RED at Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi, Ninjago Live at Legoland Dubai, Duran Duran Live in Tokyo, Noise Ensemble (worldwide), Pam Ann (US National Tour), Las Vegas Fantasy (Taiwan), Red Hot Baroque(Russia, UK and USA). For Peter Schaufuss Ballet Company he designed new productions ofThe King, Nutcracker and Noddebo Prastegard
