What is Stages Musical Theatre Festival at Sea?

Stages Musical Theatre at Sea is the fully immersive musical theatre cruise over 4-magical nights celebrating the amazing world of theatre. You’ll be lucky to watch and see West End and Broadway headliner stars, along with discovering many up and coming talented performers from near and far.  With the introduction of Stages Academy, Stages gives you an in depth look behind the scenes and the various elements that make musical theatre the amazing industry it is, and never before has there been so much on offer until now.

What is the Cruise Itinerary?

Subject to change, the cruise itinerary is:

  • Sunday, Sept 19, 2021 – Depart Southampton, UK (approx. 4:30pm)
  • Monday, Sept 20, 2021 – At Sea
  • Tuesday, Sept 21, 2021 – Dock in Zeebrugge, Belgium (approx 7am-4pm)
  • Wednesday, Sept 22, 2021 – At Sea
  • Thursday, Sept 23, 2021 – Arrive Southampton, UK (approx 6am)

Why was the Cruise moved to 2021?

We hope you and you’re loved ones have remained safe and healthy during the challenging time of CoVid-19.  Like you, we have been closely monitoring Coronavirus (CoVid-19) and the worldwide impact.

Our festivals are about removing you from your every day and giving you a unique and unforgettable time. Each cruise is planned to give you the ultimate experience. We stick by this belief. You come first. Your safety comes first.  It became increasingly unlikely that our 2020 Festivals were able to go ahead safely due to the impact of CoVid-19.  Therefore in the interests of our passengers, artists, and crew, we postponed our festivals to 2021.

What Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health Protocols are in place and is it safe to cruise?

Royal Caribbean is currently laser-focused on additional safety enhancements for its return to service. To develop their future boarding screening process and updated health protocols, they are collaborating with government health authorities, the Cruise Lines International Association, and their own team of medical experts. These are not yet finalized, but when they are, we will be sure to let you and your Travel Advisor know via email.

We know that our 70+ guests and those with chronic conditions are especially eager to understand what cruising will look like in the future. While subject to change, via the Cruise Lines International Association, they have confirmed that the previous restrictions were lifted in early April after cruise lines suspended service. Please know that every decision both we at Floating Festivals and Royal Caribbean make, and all of the fine-tuning we do, has your well-being in mind. We miss you – and can’t wait to welcome you back onboard.

What is included in the Price?

4-night round-trip cruise from the port of Southampton, UK onboard the RCCL ‘Anthem of the Seas’ including a day ashore in Cherbourg.

  • All entertainment Onboard
  • All meals in our Complimentary Restaurants – Speciality Restaurants also available [cover charge may apply].
  • Non-carbonated beverages (i.e. tea, juices, coffee).
  • Use of the ship’s beautiful pools and spas* (all with plenty of deck space to enjoy a cocktail and some great music).
  • Use of all of the ‘Anthem of the Seas’ facilities.
  • The additional fees for Port charges and taxes are already included in your cruise fare upon purchase.  Please see the pricing page for more details

* Due to weather conditions, some pools and jacuzzis may be closed for safety during the cruise.

**On occasions, adjustments are made to children’s program hours and locations as required by our scheduled activities.

Not included are:

  • Alcoholic beverages.
  • Soft drinks & bottled water.
  • Gambling casino, bingo etc
  • Spa and spa services
  • While many restaurants on board are free, some Specialty Restaurants you choose to go to require a cover charge.
  • Any meals, events or tours in the port.
  • Pre-cruise or post-cruise hotels.
  • Airfare.
  • Ground transportation.
  • Travel Insurance.

I was already booked on 2020 - what options do I have now?

There are various easy options to rollover your booking from 2020 to the new dates in 2021.

  1. Continue your current payment plan (£25 discount will be credited to your account)
  2. The remaining balance of your booking can be spread out in even monthly payments from June 2020 with the final payment required on Apr 1, 2021 (£25 discount will be credited to your account)
  3. Should you be experiencing financial hardship, we can pause your payments and have them recommence as of Jan 1, 2021, with even monthly payments with the final payment required on Apr 1, 2020

The monthly payments are interest-free and the payment is automatically collected from the card you register the deposit.  You can change the payment card online or by phone at any time during the period.

Is there a Payment Plan?

At the time of booking, an initial deposit of £150 per person is required.

Monthly Payment – Interest-Free Credit

Once you have paid the initial £150 per person deposit, the system will calculate the remaining balance, and split the balance into equal monthly instalments. The first instalment is from the time of purchase and the final instalment is collected 30th June 1st 2020. You can also make additional payments across the period, provided the minimum monthly payment is collected.

The payment is automatically collected from the card you register the deposit, and you can change the payment card online or by phone at any time during the period.

What is a 'Guarantee Cabin'? How is this different from a normal cabin grade?

Guarantee cabins mean you select the cabin category and Floating Festivals allocate your cabin number. Floating Festivals will let you know which cabin you’re in before you sail and you’re always guaranteed a room in your category. Please note cabin numbers may not be allocated until 2 weeks before sailing.

What are the sleeping arrangements for all cabins?


  • Interior, Ocean View and Balcony Staterooms: have two single beds that can be converted to a queen.
  • Suites with double occupancy have either a queen or king bed.


  • Interior, Ocean View and Balcony Staterooms: Sleeping accommodations are 2 twin beds that convert to 1 Queen bed and 1 upper bed.  Same as interior quad photo below, but without the lower middle bed.
  • Mini-Suites:  Third and fourth guests are accommodated by 1 double sleeper sofa (great for kids!).


  • Interior Staterooms: Sleeping accommodations are 2 twin beds that convert to 1 Queen bed, 1 upper bed, and 1 trundle (pop-up) bed.
  • Ocean View Staterooms: Sleeping accommodations are 2 twin beds that convert to 1 Queen bed, 1 upper bed, and 1 trundle (pop-up) bed.
  • Balcony Staterooms:  Quads: Sleeping accommodations are 2 twin beds that convert to 1 Queen bed, 1 upper bed, and 1 Single Sofa Bed.
  • Mini-Suites:  Third and fourth guests are accommodated by 1 double sleeper sofa (great for kids!).

Can I purchase a Drinks Package?

We are delighted to announce there will be several Beverage Packages onboard our cruise.  The deluxe drinks package is available to purchase HERE and the other drinks package options will be available to purchase 3 months prior to the cruise departing.    Drinks Packages are inclusive of onboard taxes and gratuities.  *Beverage package prices are subject to the currency exchange at the time of booking.

Important Note from RCCL’s T&C’s:

“All guests of legal drinking age in the same stateroom and under the same stateroom booking number are required to purchase the same beverage package. The package cannot be shared by guests. Guest agrees to not provide or share drinks with other guests; a violation of this may result in cancellation of the guest’s package and the guest will not receive a refund or credit of any kind”

Are you allowed to Split Bills?

Our system allows you to split the bill with friends and family, and you can make any number of people responsible for their own payments.

When you come to the checkout, the system will ask you how you want to pay the bill, and who’s responsible. Anyone you nominate will receive their own personal login to enter their own Credit/Debit card and they will then be responsible for their own payments.

Is the cruise run by Royal Caribbean?

No, this cruise festival is run by Floating Festivals who have chartered the ship from Royal Caribbean (RCL).  All bookings are subject to its standard booking conditions available at

Floating Festivals promote the cruises offered on this website which are operated by Royal Caribbean, a member of ABTA and ATOL holder.

Do I need Travel Insurance?

Yes, we highly recommend you have travel insurance in place to cover your cruise holiday as well as any other destinations you may be visiting independently. Our recommended insurance provider is Holiday Extras. To obtain an insurance quotation, click here.

Failure to book any Travel Insurance, or the adequate level of Travel Insurance protection is the sole responsibility of the booking guest(s).  Travel Insurance should be purchased as soon as you have booked your festival.  The promoter accepts no responsibility for any claim, issues, last minute illness, or cancellation at any stage needed from any guest that falls outside of the cancellation policies on the Pricing page of this website.

Why isn't the cruise listed on Royal Caribbean's website?

Due to Floating Festivals chartering the ship and producing our own bespoke festival, it won’t be listed on the RCL website. However, all bookings are subject to its standard booking conditions available at Cruise bookings are ABTA bonded & ATOL protected.

Can I book multiple Floating Festivals back to back and stay onboard?

Absolutely! You can either book one festival, or have double the fun and book back to back festivals, staying onboard for 2 or 3 festivals. Does Royal Caribbeans regular Crown & Anchor loyalty program and points apply to this cruise?

We are happy to confirm that Royal Crown and Anchor guests will receive their points for their sailing with Floating Festivals after they sail.

For all Grand suites and above, passengers will still be able to enjoy the Concierge lounge as part of our VIP package. However, the Diamond lounge won’t be available, as this is used for Floating Festival charter purposes.

However due to this being a Floating Festival cruise charter and separate to a normal Royal Caribbean cruise, unfortunately, none of the other Crown & Anchor benefits will be applicable.

What are the policies about minimum age limits for sailing or having a stateroom?

Minimum Age for Sailing.

 Infants sailing on a cruise must be at least 6 months old as of the first day of the cruise and/or Cruisetour. However for transatlantic, transpacific, Hawaii, select South American and other cruises and/or Cruisetours, the infant must be at least 12 months old as of the first day of the cruise/Cruisetour.

For the purposes of this policy, any cruise that has three or more consecutive days at sea will require infants to be 12 months old on the first day of the cruise/Cruisetour.

Please be aware that guests travelling with a young infant that does not meet this infant policy will be denied boarding. No refunds or other compensation shall be due from the cruise line to anyone as a result of the denial of boarding to an underage infant or other accompanying guests.

 Minimum Age to Occupy a Stateroom*

For sailings that depart a port in Europe, Asia, South America, New Zealand or Australia then no Guest younger than age eighteen (18) will be assigned to a stateroom unless accompanied in the same stateroom by an adult of eighteen (18) years old or older. A guest’s age is established as their age upon the first day of sailing. Please note, that for sailings which depart from a port in the US or Canada, the above age limit is twenty-one (21).

What if I have any special requests with regard a disability, a medical condition or a dietary requirement?

Are there any discounts for Children?

Anyone staying in the same stateroom with two full-fare paying guests will pay a special third and/or fourth guests rate. So if you are intending on having your children stay in your stateroom, their rate will be lower and the 3rd/4th/6th/8th additional berth prices will apply. See the Pricing page for more details.

How are solo cabins priced for solo travellers?

Due to limited capacity on board, all cabins are sold as minimum dual occupancy (2 people) prices, which is standard across the board for 99% of cabins on all cruise ships. Therefore the current entry cabin price for a solo traveller would be the cabin price for 2 people.  You can find out more on the pricing page 

Important to note that the price does drop if more than 2 people (3 or 4) in the one cabin, and for one person, the price is obviously higher to the minimum dual occupancy threshold.

An alternative option is you may be able to find a friend or family member who will be keen to join you.  We also have a passenger facebook page where various passengers have connected and developed a friendship and are sharing a cabin to share the cost.
