John Owen-Jonesis an award winning and record-breaking West End and Broadway actor and singerwho has performed extensively in theatre, television, radio and in concert all over the world. He has also worked as a presenter, voiceover artist and director. He is probably best known, however, for his critically acclaimed and hugely popular performances as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables and as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.John holds the record for being the youngest actor in West End history to have played Jean Valjean in Les Misérables (a role he also played twice on Broadway) and has performed as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera nearly 2000 times -more than any actor in the show’s entire West End run.
John appeared in special finales for the Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary performances at the O2 and Royal Albert Hall. He is in the unique position of being the only actor to have the opportunity to reinvent both Valjean and The Phantom –in brand new Cameron Mackintosh productions that have toured the UK and the world to great acclaim. In an online poll, John was voted the “Best Ever Valjean” and “Best Ever Performer in Les Misérables” by fans of the show worldwide and his performance as Valjean can be heard on the ‘Les Misérables Live!’ album. John will return to the show in the West End this year to be part of the Les Misérables All Star Concert where he will share the role of Jean Valjean with Alfie Boe.
